How much a DJ cost?
How much a DJ cost?
This is the first question I get when I meet with a potential client looking to hire my DJ services. Whether it is for a Private event, Corporate Event, or a wedding. How much do you cost?
There’s more than one factor that will determine a DJ cost. I can't tell you how much other DJ’s charge, but I had to go back to the drawing board to find for my business. I did my homework to understand my worth and my value and determine how much I should charge a client.
First of all, every event is different. The amount I will charge for a festival, a major company event will not be the same as a private event, or a wedding. Instead of asking someone how much they cost, a better question could be: what will take for you to be my DJ for this event? Now you give the DJ a chance to learn more about your needs and give you a chance to understand his pricing.
One other factor is location. Not all locations are created equal. A DJ in a major city, will probably have a higher fee than a DJ in a smaller town. With that being said that does not mean because you are small town you should expect every DJ to be Cheap. Some DJ’s have more experienced than others and can bring more on the table.
When you hire a DJ, you hire him Her for their expertise also. The duration of the event is a small factor. you hire him/her to help you elevate the quality of the event you are putting. DJ’s with experience will have a network of professional they work with. Because they are part of many different types of event, they can teach you about creating a great experience. They can teach you about different elements such as lighting, sound equipment and of course music that will be beneficial to the project.
Some DJ’s will have set price per Hour, some will charge you for the day, some will charge you for the type of event you are putting. So, before you plan to hire any DJ, make sure to do your research on the potential DJ or DJ’s you are looking to hire. Find out first from the content they have online and a phone conversation if this person is the right person for the Job. If possible, go listen to them play live, check out their Mixtape online. According to WeddingWire:” If you're considering hiring a DJ to play music at your wedding, keep in mind that the average wedding DJ cost in the U.S. is around $1,000 with most couples spending between $780 to $1,495.” Be aware of those numbers, because not all event is equal. Some DJ will charge well over $5000 - $10000; some DJ will be happy with $500 for the same night. The major question to ask if you are considering hiring a DJ is, on a scale to 10 how important having a great DJ is for us? If it is a 10 make sure you look around for a 10 DJ. A great DJ will more often than not have a much higher price than the average but will be a great asset to you.
